Lanzarote is a popular holiday island located close to the coast of Africa.  One of the seven links that make up the Canaries chain the island basks in warm weather and sunshine all year round.  Making it popular with tourists during both the winter and summer months.
Tourists first started to visit Lanzarote in the late 1960´s after the first hotel on the island, the Los Fariones, opened its doors for business.  And at the time this was regarded as a novel and exotic new destination.  Today that novelty has obviously worn off a little and the island has been forced to compete with new rivals such as Egypt and Dubai.  Yet Lanzarote still welcomes well over one million tourists every year.
The vast majority of these visitors find themselves staying in one of the main holiday resorts on the island.  With three key destinations to choose from in the form of Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen.  Each has its own unique identity and offers different accommodation options.
Puerto del Carmen is the spot to head for if you are searching for good value apartments in Lanzarote – as it is home to a large number of complexes all of which offer good value accommodation allied with decent amenities and facilities.  Playa Blanca is the best resort for anyone seeking something a little more luxurious.  As Lanzarote´s newest resort is home to a wide selection of upmarket private rental properties.  With the cost of villas in Playa Blanca starting at around €400 per week.
Lanzarote´s third largest resort is Costa Teguise and this is the best place for anyone searching for hotels in Lanzarote.  As the town is home to the Gran Melia Salinas – which is widely regarded as the best five star establishsment on the island.
Lanzarote is very small – so wherever visitors choose to stay it is easy to get around and explore the island.  And there’s plenty to see too – such as the weird and wonderful scenery of the Fire Mountains of the Timanfaya National Park.  Home to 300 volcanoes that were created by very large eruptions which took place here during the 1730´s.
Mother Nature also created a number of other wonders for visitors to enjoy, such as the green lagoon at El Golfo and the verdant Valley of 1000 Palms, located in the north of the island.
