How to Find Cheap Vacation Rentals

Sad that you cannot afford a luxury room in a plush resort? Well, there’s no need to shelve your holiday plans just because of that. With the all new craze among travel bugs, you no longer need to dole out more than half your traveling budget on rooms. Inexpensive vacation rentals allow you to enjoy a dream vacation for a very low price.

Cheap vacation rentals are very attractive these days because:

  • You can easily find the accommodation of your choice for much less than you would imagine. Your vacation rental could be a one bedroom log cabin, a condo, a flat or a 6-room villa.
  • Private accommodation ensures more privacy, comfortable amenities, more space and good food – all for a song! Most vacation rentals have their own private gardens and a huge array of amenities like washer, dryer, refrigerator, high speed internet connection, spa, fireplace, a private pool and much more. These make your stay more comfortable though inexpensive.
  • Cheap vacation rentals help you save a lot of money. The convenience of a full fledged kitchen means you needn’t waste money on eating out. A good washer and dryer system is another money saver.

Unlike hotels, vacation rentals have fewer rules. It’s almost like staying at home. For instance, many cheap vacation rentals are pet friendly and they do not have prying eyes following your every move.

In the past, travelers had little choice but depend on travel agencies to find them suitable hotel rooms or vacation rentals. As a result, most travelers had to pay a hefty price even for cheap rentals. Also, there was the element of security. Travelers to a foreign country often felt safer booking with a hotel because they could not see the vacation rental or get any opinion about it beforehand. All that has changed.

Inexpensive communication tools and the internet have made it possible for people to arrange their own cheap vacation rentals. Vacation rental websites are dedicated to offering vacation rentals in a particular area. All you have to do is enter the required information in their search boxes and wait for the listings to appear. Most of the listings come with pictures and testimonials. This makes it possible for you to make an educated decision, in the shortest possible time.

But, the plethora of information on the web regarding cheap holidays and inexpensive vacation rentals can become somewhat overwhelming. So, given below are a few guidelines that help you find the cheapest vacation rentals easily.

  • Many rental websites offer free services. Of course, they make their profits elsewhere. But the point is this: there is no need for you to join a paid website.
  • Choose vacation rental websites that are directly associated with property managers, as opposed to individual owners. When you deal with individual owners, the risk you undertake is slightly higher. Also, there are no guarantees on timely response and security. On the other hand, property managers are only too happy to respond to your queries, make suggestions and help you find the facilities you want.
  • A reputed company is always the best choice when it comes to finding cheap vacation rentals. When you go directly to individual owners, you never know whether the property really exists and whether the pictures are genuine. A reputed company will verify these for you before they list the rental.

How to Choose a Speciatly Summer Camp

Specialty summer camp programs have continued to grow in popularity each of the past several years. In fact, they’re the fastest growing segment of the entire summer camp industry. A “specialty” camp generally focuses on one or more related camp activities (just beach and surfing activities, for example), versus a traditional summer camp which typically offers a more generalized program with activities such as arts & crafts, horseback riding, nature study, sports and games, archery, and dance and drama, among others.

Specialty camps have historically appealed to “older” kids (generally ages 10 or 12) because their lifestyle interests begin to take shape at this age and they become more interested in specialized fields of study or play as they grow. But in recent years, specialty camps are seeing more enrollment from children as young as preschool age whose parents may want them exposed to more specific camp activities than they’d get at a traditional camp.

Like traditional camps, specialty camps offer day or resident/sleepaway camp experiences. (At day camps, children are generally brought to the camp each morning in a bus or van, spend their day at camp, and then return home in the late afternoon.  At resident camps, children “live” at the camp — typically in bunks, tents or cabins — for up to several weeks at a time during the summer.)

There seems to be no limit as to the types of specialty camps available. If your child is interested in a specific area of interest, you can be sure there’s a specialty camp designed for them. For example, a recent internet search revealed the following types of specialty camps: beach and surfing camps, cooking camps, boating camps, camps for children with special needs, weight loss camps, boot camps, football camps, general sports camps, ski and snowboard camps, camps for children with cancer, baking camps, tennis camps, acting camps, academic camps, entrepreneurial camps, family camps and camps for twins, among others.

Where’s the best place to start your search for a specialty camp? We always suggest picking an American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited camp, regardless of the type of camp you choose. By choosing an accredited camp, you can be sure the camp meets or exceeds up to 300 best-practice industry standards relating to child safety and supervision, transportation, program and activity scheduling, food service, and more.

The ACA maintains a free Website where you can search for a specialty camp among any criteria that’s important to you such as by type of camp, location, gender, price, and ages served.

Go to http://acacamps.com to start your search. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a beach and surf camp in Los Angeles or a cooking camp in Wisconsin, the specialty camp you’re looking for will be right there on the ACA’s Web site.

How To Decorate Your Vacation Home

When you walk into your vacation home do you feel like its home or more like a hotel? Owning a vacation home can be a lot of work and cost some serious money. You should therefore want to spend most of your time there. Make your vacation house a second home by decorating in the taste and style that reflects your lifestyle. If your vacation home lies near the beach and you enjoy spending most of your time in the sand, colors and wall paintings should reflect the beaches’ color palettes.

I am a big believer in bringing activities you enjoy on vacation into your vacation home. The best way to decorate any home is to add your personal touch. In your vacation home make sure your personal touch includes the vacation activities you love. If you own a vacation home dedicated to enjoying the quite of the woods near a pristine lake, you may want to bring paintings inside of what you like about the lake.

Interesting enough, I don’t believe you can overdo this technique when decorating your vacation home. Make sure you make your vacation house or cabin as comfortable as your main home.

If you rent out your vacation home for part of the year, the people renting it out will definitely appreciate the personal touch because it makes it feel like a home and not a hotel. People can easily stay for a week at a hotel room or suite for their vacation. They chose to rent out a vacation house or cabin because they want to feel completely relaxed like they are at “home”.

You can also take this design tip home. Keep your mind on vacation while you’re sitting at home by bringing your vacation activities home with you. Your spouse will appreciate the beach painting, or moose head on the wall in your home. Personal touches in your house or vacation home make sure he/she will remember every minute of a stress free vacation when coming home from a hard days work.

Discover your unique style while on vacation by finding a piece of art that only you and your family would enjoy. Unique pieces of drift wood, or sand dollars can add that personal touch that is so difficult to find. Make sure you clean any product of nature that you do bring inside your vacation home. You never know what bugs, or creatures still live inside.

A special creative hobby that you enjoy to do on your free time can also serve as inspiration for your vacation home’s décor. If you enjoy arts and crafts, place your latest work of art on the coffee table or wall. If you enjoy placing ships into a bottle this can be a great addition to side table. Enjoy spending some time either creating or finding that additional item that will truly make your vacation home unique. Take your time with this process, make it a family event, or a romantic activity for the two of you.
